MANCHESTER, N.J. — An 81-year-old woman was hospitalized Friday after her car crashed into a home in the Renaissance community, damaging multiple vehicles and a garage, according to Manchester Township Police.

Officers responded around 11:37 a.m. to a report of a vehicle into a building at 2 Belvedere Drive South. At the scene, police found a white 2016 Hyundai Sonata with significant front-end damage, a red 2017 Toyota Camry with extensive damage, and a white 2014 Toyota Camry with damage to the front passenger side. The two Toyotas were parked in the driveway of the residence, which also sustained structural damage to its attached two-car garage.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Anita M. Lahm of Manchester, sustained minor injuries to her chest and neck. She was transported to Community Medical Center for evaluation, police said.

An investigation revealed that Lahm’s Hyundai had been traveling south on Belvedere Drive North and failed to stop at a stop sign at Renaissance Boulevard. Authorities believe Lahm suffered a medical episode, causing her to lose control and accelerate across the intersection.

The Hyundai traveled onto the property of 2 Belvedere Drive South and struck the red Toyota Camry in the driveway. That collision redirected the Hyundai at a 45-degree angle into the home’s garage. The red Toyota also rotated on impact and struck the white Toyota parked next to it.

Police continue evaluating structural damage

Officers reported visible structural damage to the garage, though no residents were injured in the incident. Township building officials are assessing the extent of the damage.

Lahm was alone in her vehicle at the time of the crash, and no charges have been filed as of Friday.
