UTICA, NY — A Utica man was arrested late Sunday night after fleeing from officers twice during a domestic-related incident and being found in possession of a loaded handgun.

At approximately 11 p.m. on June 22, Utica Police responded to the 1300 block of Oneida Street for a report of a physical domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers identified the primary suspect and attempted to detain him.

The suspect, later identified as Almonzo Davis, 24, initially attempted to flee but was quickly taken into custody. Police say that after being placed in handcuffs, Davis escaped again and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short distance away on Tracy Street.

Following his second arrest, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine that Davis had allegedly tried to discard during the incident. No injuries were reported in connection with the arrest.

Davis faces multiple charges following firearm recovery

Davis was transported to the Utica Police Department, where he was processed and charged with multiple offenses. The specific charges have not yet been released by police.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released further information regarding the domestic incident or any potential injuries to others involved.

Police say the recovered firearm will be submitted for forensic analysis to determine whether it is connected to any other crimes.
