Authorities are investigating a homicide after a 35-year-old resident was found dead inside a Chester Township home with multiple sharp force injuries.
A homicide investigation is underway in Morris County after a 35-year-old person was found dead inside a residence on Pottersville Road earlier this month, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Emergency medical personnel and Chester Township police officers responded to the home during the late afternoon of June 6 after receiving a 911 call requesting assistance.
Victim found dead inside residence
When first responders arrived, they discovered a 35-year-old resident deceased inside the home.
The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office later conducted an examination and determined the death was the result of multiple sharp force injuries.
“An examination by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be multiple sharp force injuries and the manner of death as homicide,” the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Authorities have not publicly identified the victim.
Multiple agencies involved in investigation
The investigation is being conducted by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the Chester Township Police Department, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
Officials have released few details about the circumstances surrounding the killing and have not announced any arrests.
“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” prosecutors said.
Detectives seek information from the public
Investigators said additional details are being withheld to protect the integrity of the case.
“No further information can be released at this time in order to protect the integrity of the investigation,” the prosecutor’s office said.
