BALTIMORE – A 13-year-old male suspect was arrested following an attempted auto theft and assault on a 51-year-old man. The incident occurred on May 27, 2024, around 6:30 PM in the 4800 block of East Wabash Avenue.

Northwest District patrol officers were called to the scene after reports of an auto theft in progress. Upon arrival, they learned that the victim had attempted to prevent a group of juveniles from stealing his vehicle. The suspects responded by physically assaulting the man, striking and kicking him, and then smashing his cell phone on the ground.

After the attack, medics were dispatched to the scene and provided treatment to the victim. Meanwhile, officers conducted a search of the nearby area and located the suspects on the 3800 block of Beehler Avenue, attempting another vehicle theft. When approached by the officers, the suspects fled on foot, but after a brief chase, police managed to apprehend the 13-year-old involved.

The arrested juvenile was processed at the Department of Juvenile Services and subsequently released into the custody of his parents. This incident highlights ongoing issues of juvenile crime in the area, with local authorities continuing to address these challenges.
