BALTIMORE, MD — In the early hours of June 15, 2024, at approximately 1:54 a.m., Baltimore Police officers responded to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Franklin Street and St. Paul Place. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle that had collided with a utility pole.
The driver, a 38-year-old male, and the passenger, a 35-year-old male, were transported to a local hospital by medics. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The passenger remains in critical yet stable condition.
Initial investigations revealed that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Orleans Street when it lost control, mounted the median separating the eastbound and westbound lanes, struck the westbound curb, and went airborne before crashing into a BGE utility pole.
The Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) detectives have taken over the investigation and are seeking any information that could aid in understanding the circumstances of the accident.
