Newark Man Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Wilmington, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested Tavon White, 28, from Newark, Delaware on drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Wilmington on Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday, around 1:40 p.m., the New Castle County Governor’s Task Force observed a Jeep Patriot committing traffic violations on Governor Printz Boulevard near 35th Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Tavon White, who was the sole occupant. It was determined that White did not have a valid driver’s license, and he was asked to exit the vehicle.

Upon exiting, police conducted a consensual search of White, which led to the discovery of 57 baggies containing approximately 1.71 grams of heroin, as well as $1,504 in suspected drug proceeds. White was subsequently arrested without incident.

White was taken to Troop 1 where he faced various charges. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and later committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with a cash bond of $3,150. Charges include possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.
