FORKED RIVER, N.J. — A nearly six-year-old dog named Crinkles, once trained as a skilled scent and bite work dog, is seeking a new home through the Associated Humane Popcorn Park Shelter. Shelter officials are searching for a rescue or experienced adopter with a strong background in handling working dogs.
Crinkles, a bright and energetic dog, has undergone advanced training in scent tracking and bite work, although the specific scents she was trained to detect remain unidentified. She thrives when given a job to do and requires a handler who can provide mental stimulation and continue her training to suit her working-dog instincts.
“Crinkles is a dedicated, intelligent, and loyal dog who needs an environment where she can channel her energy productively,” the shelter shared in an online post, emphasizing the need for an experienced home.
Despite her extensive training, Crinkles has behavioral challenges, including a tendency to bite at her back end when not actively engaged. Shelter staff recommend a home without other pets where she can focus on her training and bond closely with her adopter.
