TRENTON, N.J. — Five personnel from the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) are heading to California to assist with disaster recovery efforts under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). The team will support FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) Program in response to an aid request from California.
The NJOEM team will serve as Program Delivery Managers and Task Force Leaders, conducting site and preliminary damage assessments while providing technical guidance to county officials on Public Assistance projects. Their deployment will begin in Pasadena, California, where they will undergo onboarding before being potentially reassigned to operational areas such as county Emergency Operations Centers, Disaster Recovery Centers, and Local Assistance Centers.
NJOEM emphasized New Jersey’s commitment to assisting communities affected by disasters nationwide. “Safe travels to our team!” the department stated in its announcement.
The deployment reflects ongoing collaboration between states through EMAC, which facilitates mutual aid during emergencies and natural disasters.
