Baltimore, Maryland — A 6-year-old boy was found dead from a gunshot wound inside a residence on Vine Street Saturday afternoon, prompting a death investigation by Baltimore Police.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., officers from the Southwest District responded to the 800 block of Vine Street following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered the young child suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside the home. Medics pronounced the boy dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives have taken over the case as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not stated whether the gunshot was self-inflicted, accidental, or the result of foul play.
The area, located in the city’s Southwest District, was cordoned off as officers conducted interviews and searched for evidence. Officials have not released the identity of the child pending family notification.
