Wilkes-Barre teen arrested after assaulting 69-year-old man in cigarette dispute

WILKES-BARRE, PA — An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly punching a 69-year-old man in the face during a domestic dispute on West Ross Street.

The altercation occurred at approximately 12:47 p.m. on May 12. Police responded to the residence following a report of a disturbance and made contact with the victim, who said he had gotten into a verbal argument with the suspect, identified as Quannell Fitzgerald, over missing cigarettes.

During the dispute, Fitzgerald allegedly struck the older man multiple times in the face with a closed fist.

Suspect taken into custody without further incident

Officers took Fitzgerald into custody at the scene. He was transported to City Headquarters for processing and arraignment. The extent of the victim’s injuries was not disclosed.

The investigation remains ongoing under case number 250099641.
