WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two men were found shot to death early Sunday morning in the Kingman Park section of Northeast D.C., prompting a double homicide investigation.

Around 12:03 a.m., officers from the Fifth District were on patrol near the 1800 block of D Street, Northeast, when they heard gunfire and began canvassing the area. They located two adult male victims, both unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders with DC Fire and EMS arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving measures. Both victims were pronounced dead on site after those efforts failed.

The deceased were later identified as 30-year-old Quonzay Lynch of Northeast Washington and 41-year-old Cortney Burley of Southeast Washington.

The case remains under active investigation.

$50,000 reward offered in double homicide case

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in each of the two homicides, bringing the total reward to $50,000.

Officials urged anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators by phone or via text.

The fatal shooting occurred just blocks from residential areas and local parks, where officers had been conducting routine patrols shortly before the incident unfolded.

No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unknown.
