Yonkers man charged with attempted murder after violent I-95 pursuit in Maryland

Bel Air, MD – A New York man is facing attempted second-degree murder charges after a high-speed pursuit on I-95 ended with the assault of a Harford County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant, officials announced Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as Juan Yahir Quiroz Manzueta of Yonkers, led deputies on a vehicle chase Tuesday before allegedly attacking Lt. Shane Burgess during a confrontation. The incident resulted in multiple charges against Quiroz Manzueta, including attempted second-degree murder.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office released the update just 23 minutes ago in a public statement and press conference posted to their Facebook page. A photo of the suspect was provided by the United States Marshals Service.

Officials have not disclosed additional details about the pursuit or the events that led to the assault, and the condition of Lt. Burgess has not been made public. Investigators say the case remains active and additional charges may follow.

Quiroz Manzueta remains in custody as authorities continue to investigate the full scope of the incident.
