Search underway for missing 68-year-old man last seen at Rutter’s in New Freedom

NEW FREEDOM, PA — A community search is underway in southern York County after a 68-year-old man vanished early Thursday morning, last spotted at a local Rutter’s Farm Store before disappearing on foot.

The Southern Regional Police Department said Robert Frederick Mills Jr. left his home on South Broad Street in New Freedom earlier in the morning and was last seen around 6 a.m. at the Rutter’s location in town. He was wearing a red T-shirt, blue jeans, and a dark lightweight jacket.

Police say Mills does not have access to a vehicle and is believed to be traveling on foot in the area. Officers and local residents have been asked to keep an eye out as the search continues through the day.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen Mills or knows his whereabouts to immediately contact the Southern Regional Police Department at 717-235-3944 or call 911.
