Man arrested in 2023 DC killing after two-year fugitive hunt

Washington, DC — A 23-year-old man is behind bars after being arrested Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager found dead inside a Southeast DC apartment nearly two years ago.

Treyvon Wilson, 18, was discovered unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound on the evening of Sunday, November 19, 2023, inside an apartment building on the 2300 block of Good Hope Court SE. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers from the Seventh District.

On Monday, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked down and arrested Martell West, 23, of Southeast DC, on a DC Superior Court warrant. He has been charged with second degree murder while armed in connection with Wilson’s death.

Police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting or whether the suspect and victim knew each other. The investigation remains ongoing.

Wilson was a resident of Northwest DC and was just weeks away from his 19th birthday at the time of the shooting.
