Duo wielding machete sought in bronx subway robbery attempt

BRONX, NY – Police are searching for two suspects who attacked and tried to rob two men inside a Bronx subway station Sunday afternoon before fleeing in a blue SUV.

The confrontation happened around 4:30 p.m. inside the East Tremont Avenue–West Farms station, within the 48th Precinct and Transit District 12.

Authorities said a 44-year-old man and a 32-year-old man were approached by two unidentified individuals following a verbal dispute.

During the altercation, one suspect pulled out a machete and struck the 44-year-old victim in the wrist and leg.

Second suspect tried to snatch cellphone

Police said the second assailant punched the 32-year-old victim in the face and attempted to steal his cellphone but failed.

Both suspects then fled the scene in a blue Honda Element bearing Pennsylvania plate KLM7727.

The victims were taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital in stable condition with multiple injuries.

Investigators have released photos of one suspect and the vehicle used in the getaway, asking the public to help identify the attackers.
