Teen arrested in connection with two late-night DC shootings
WASHINGTON, DC – A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with two separate shootings in the District that occurred days apart in October, authorities announced.
In both incidents, investigators say the suspect fired a gun and fled the scene, with no victims located at either location.
The first incident occurred Friday night, October 10, around 11:33 p.m. in the unit block of New York Avenue, Northeast, where shots were fired during an endangerment with a firearm case. The second shooting took place Wednesday, October 15, at approximately 10:35 p.m. in the 1300 block of 5th Street, Northwest, and was investigated as an assault with a dangerous weapon involving a gun.
On Thursday, December 11, the teenager, a Northwest Washington resident, was taken into custody under a D.C. Superior Court pre-petition custody order. He was charged with endangerment with a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon involving a gun, and destruction of property.
Investigators did not release additional details about a possible motive or whether the incidents were connected beyond the suspect’s alleged involvement. The case remains under review.
