Woodbridge man arrested after shoplifting attempt at Stafford Kohl’s

Stafford, VA – A 56-year-old man from Woodbridge was taken into custody Tuesday evening after allegedly shoplifting clothing from a Kohl’s store and attempting to flee from deputies in the parking lot.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on December 17, Deputy B.E. Vaughn responded to a report of shoplifting at the Kohl’s located at 1220 Stafford Market Place. Loss prevention personnel told deputies that a male suspect had exited the store without paying for merchandise and provided a physical description.

Deputy Vaughn located the suspect near the Shoppers parking area. When approached, the man attempted to run but was quickly apprehended. The stolen clothing items were recovered at the scene.

The suspect was identified as Robert Robinson, 56, of Woodbridge. A search revealed he was also in possession of a pair of wire cutters, commonly used in retail thefts.

Robinson was charged with shoplifting, possession of burglary tools, and obstruction of justice. He was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.
