Sidewalk fight ends in gunfire as Penn Hills man charged in Homestead shooting
Homestead, PA – A fight that spilled out onto the sidewalk outside a store on East 8th Avenue ended in gunfire Friday morning when a 41-year-old Penn Hills man allegedly shot another man in the leg during a dispute, according to Allegheny County Police.
The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. on the 100 block of East 8th Avenue, where Homestead Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting. Officers arriving at the scene found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg and immediately detained the suspected shooter.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigators say the altercation began inside a nearby store and escalated into a physical fight when both men exited the business and began fighting on the sidewalk. During the confrontation, Chuck Binion Jr., 41, allegedly pulled a gun and shot the victim once in the left leg.
Following the investigation by Allegheny County detectives, Binion was charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. He was booked into the Allegheny County Jail, where he remains pending arraignment.
