Robbery suspect flees Odenton pet store on bike after armed holdup

Odenton, MD – A man armed with a replica BB gun robbed a Pet Supplies Plus in Odenton on Thursday night, then tried to make a getaway on a bicycle before being tackled by officers during a foot chase along Annapolis Road.

Just after 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Western District officers responded to the 1100 block of Annapolis Road following reports of an armed robbery at the pet supply retailer. An investigation revealed that the suspect walked into the store, pointed what appeared to be a handgun at an employee, and demanded cash.

The employee complied, handing over money before the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle. Officers quickly located the suspect riding along Annapolis Road. When approached, he ditched the bike and attempted to escape on foot, but was apprehended shortly afterward without further incident.

The weapon recovered from the suspect was identified as an air-powered BB gun designed to resemble a real handgun.

The suspect, 32-year-old Charles A. W. Couser, who has no fixed address, was arrested and is facing robbery and weapons-related charges. No injuries were reported during the incident.
