Man shot and killed in Columbus as police seek video from nearby homes

COLUMBUS, OH — A man was fatally shot in Columbus on Saturday afternoon, and police are now urging residents in the area to check their security cameras for possible evidence.

Officers were dispatched to the scene on January 27 following a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Columbus Division of Police Homicide Unit is now leading the investigation and is asking for the public’s help. Detectives are specifically requesting any security video captured between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on January 27 within the vicinity of the shooting. A QR code has been provided by police for residents to upload footage directly to investigators.

No details have been released about the victim’s identity or any suspects involved. The motive for the shooting also remains unknown.
