JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Jackson Township Mayor Jennifer Kuhn’s feud with her political opponent, Councilman Chris Pollak, took a personal financial toll on the mayor in December.
Kuhn, who said she was working on a deal within Jackson Township with an unidentified client, said she was fired as the broker for that deal after Councilman Pollak went on social media exposing Kuhn’s connection to the developer.
“I lost a $30,000 commission because of that [expletive],” Kuhn told Shore News Network. “He’s a [expletive] [expletive]!”
Kuhn said the developer notified her after seeing Pollak’s video, which had gone viral, saying that while he valued his business relationship with the mayor, who is also a Real Estate Broker for eXp Realty, he could not continue with the business relationship based on the heat being brought by Pollak.
Kuhn did not mention which project or which developer she was working with at the time of the incident.
In December, Pollak attended a roundtable meeting to discuss the township’s Fair Share Housing agreement which calls for 1,000 more affordable housing units. Under that agreement, Pollak suspected that developers tied to Kuhn and Burnstein were being rewarded under the affordable housing mandate.
“Do we have a list of developers tied to each project?” he asked the mayor at the roundtable.
“Even though they met with the developers, planned the future of our town with the developers, and are changing zoning for development – they couldn’t give me names of any of the developers,” Pollak later said.
The room went silent. Days later, Kuhn complained about Pollak’s interference, saying she lost the potential commission because of his meddling and his statements.
As campaign season continues in Jackson, more Kuhn is expected to bear more heat regarding her development and real estate transactions in Jackson as Pollak and other watchdogs continue digging into the mayor’s financial and personal relationships with developers, builders, and foreclosure dealings.
