Maintenance worker admits hiding massive fentanyl stash in apartment complex
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Stamford man admitted in federal court to trafficking large amounts of fentanyl after investigators connected him to a hidden drug stash discovered inside an apartment complex storage room where he worked as a maintenance employee.
Federal prosecutors said 31-year-old Brandon Turner, also known as Bizz, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Bridgeport federal court to possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.
According to court documents, investigators with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Stamford Police Department identified Turner as a narcotics distributor during an ongoing investigation.
Authorities said investigators conducted a controlled fentanyl purchase from Turner in July 2024.
On April 21, employees at an apartment complex where Turner worked as a maintenance worker discovered a tool bag hidden inside a storage room containing approximately 790 grams of fentanyl and one kilogram of cocaine.
Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage and used DNA analysis to determine Turner placed the bag in the storage room, according to prosecutors.
A court-authorized search of Turner’s vehicle allegedly uncovered additional amounts of fentanyl and cocaine.
Federal officials said the fentanyl trafficking charge carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 10 years and a maximum possible sentence of life in prison.
Turner remains detained pending sentencing, which is scheduled for Aug. 5.
The investigation involved the DEA Bridgeport HIDTA Task Force, which includes personnel from the DEA, Connecticut State Police and multiple local police departments across the state.
Federal prosecutors said the case is being handled as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative targeting narcotics trafficking organizations and violent crime.
