Police say a light colored sedan fled after striking a pedestrian on Broadway Boulevard

PITCAIRN, Pa. — A woman was left critically injured after a hit-and-run crash in Pitcairn late Thursday night as police launched a search for the driver who fled the scene immediately after the collision.

According to the Allegheny County Police Department, emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 9:17 p.m. to the 400 block of Broadway Boulevard following reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.

First responders arriving at the scene found an adult female suffering from severe injuries after being hit by the vehicle.

Authorities said the victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said the striking vehicle fled before officers arrived.

Preliminary information released by detectives indicates the suspect vehicle is believed to be a light-colored sedan.

The Allegheny County Police Department Homicide Unit responded to assist with the investigation and is actively working to identify both the driver and the vehicle involved.

Police have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
