Police flood area with alert as armed suspect reportedly walks away from shooting scene
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A shooting investigation is underway in Northeast D.C. after a suspect armed with a handgun reportedly fled the scene on foot early Wednesday morning.
The Metropolitan Police Department issued a crime alert at approximately 1 a.m. on June 3 following reports of a shooting in the 100 block of 42nd Street Northeast.
According to the alert, investigators are searching for a Black male with a light complexion who was last seen wearing a black or gray sweatshirt over a gray Adidas shirt and gray sweatpants.
Authorities said the suspect was armed with a handgun and was last seen walking toward 42nd Street Northeast.
Additional details regarding the shooting, including information about any victims, were not immediately released.
