Two active warrants catch up with local man already facing prior criminal cases

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland man is being held without bond after police arrested him on two outstanding bench warrants tied to allegations that he violated probation and failed to appear in court.

Kenneth Dominick Burks, 26, was taken into custody June 3 by the Cumberland Police Department.

According to police, one warrant issued by District Court on May 11 alleged Burks violated the terms of probation imposed following a previous conviction for destruction of property.

A second warrant, issued by Circuit Court on May 19, alleged Burks failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing involving a charge of obstructing firefighters performing their duties.

Following his arrest, Burks appeared before a District Court commissioner for an initial appearance.

He was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center, where authorities said he is being held without bond.

The allegations remain pending in court.
