Dumfries woman lands $370K Virginia Lottery jackpot while watching TV

A Prince William County resident said she was left stunned after an online lottery game delivered a six-figure jackpot from her living room.

DUMFRIES, Va. — What began as a quiet evening of television and online gaming turned into a $370,231 payday for a Dumfries woman.

Julita Guija was at home watching television while playing the Virginia Lottery’s Pantheon Payout: Tides online game when she hit a jackpot worth $370,231.

“I was in shock!” Guija told Virginia Lottery officials while claiming her prize. “I thought it was not real!”

Pantheon Payout: Tides is one of the Virginia Lottery’s online instant games and features a progressive jackpot that grows until it is won. The game is available through the lottery’s website and mobile app, with odds varying based on game mode selection.

Virginia Lottery officials said profits from ticket sales and online games support K-12 education across the Commonwealth. Prince William County, where Guija lives, received more than $63.3 million in lottery funding for public education during the last fiscal year.

Statewide, the Virginia Lottery generated more than $901 million for K-12 education in Fiscal Year 2025, accounting for about 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
