WASHINGTON, D.C. — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred overnight Sunday into Monday near the intersection of New York Avenue and North Capitol Street NW in the city’s NoMa neighborhood.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, an adult woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing the roadway. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Following the collision, authorities said two suspects fled the scene on foot after abandoning the vehicle several blocks away.
Police searching for two suspects
The abandoned vehicle was later located in the roadway a short distance from the crash scene, according to reports from on-scene journalist Kevin M. Nunn of @KMNONSCENE.
The Metropolitan Police Department issued a lookout for two Black male suspects who were last seen wearing white shirts and blue denim jeans.
No arrests had been announced as of Monday morning.
