COLUMBUS, OH – A woman being booked into jail on a new robbery charge allegedly spit in a Columbus police officer’s face Monday afternoon, adding another charge before she was even inside the facility.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:21 p.m. at the James A. Karnes Correction Center, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Three officers were processing Brenna Tafoya, 33, on a fresh robbery charge and were walking her into the jail when the alleged assault occurred.
Police said Tafoya spit in the face of one of the officers.
The department did not provide additional information about the robbery case that led to Tafoya’s initial arrest.
Tafoya was booked on the robbery charge and an additional charge of harassment with a bodily substance.
Police did not report whether the officer required medical treatment following the incident.
The charges against Tafoya are allegations and have not been proven in court.
