WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Two 15-year-old boys from Neptune Township were arrested early Sunday after Wall Township police received reports of two masked people attempting to enter vehicles in a residential area.
Officers were called to the Quaker Street area at about 12:52 a.m. and soon located two teenagers matching the circumstances reported to police. One ran from officers and was caught after a brief foot chase, according to the department.
Police set up a perimeter after the second teenager got away. Officers later found him nearby and took him into custody.
Both Teenagers Released to Their Parents
Police filed juvenile complaints against both 15-year-olds for acts that, if committed by adults, would constitute conspiracy to commit burglary of a motor vehicle, criminal trespass, obstruction of the administration of law and resisting arrest.
Neither teenager was identified because of their age.
After processing, both were released to a parent or guardian. Their cases will proceed through the Family Division of Superior Court.
Police did not say whether anything was stolen from the vehicles or how many cars may have been targeted before officers arrived.
