WHITE PLAINS, NY – The remains of Brenda Kerber, missing since 1989 were found in a car submerged in a White Plains, New York reservoir this weekend. Kerber who was 40 at the time of her disappearance was missing until a January 19th environmental study conducted at the Muscoot Reservoir identified a station wagon under the water. That study was conducted by the Department of Environmental Protection.
“The White Plains Police Department has reopened a missing person’s case that was first reported in late 1989, based on a recent discovery by DEP Police of a vehicle submerged in an upstate reservoir, matching the description of a vehicle relevant to the case,” the White Plains Police Department said. “The vehicle, which was removed from the water by State Police and DEP Police personnel is being treated as evidence.”
Apparent human remains were found in the vehicle, and confirmation that the remains are of the missing party in question were confirmed and police ruled her death was by suicide. Her father told reporters that he thought at the time she may have been depressed after her second divorce.
