JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Former Jackson Township Councilman Alex Sauickie is having a change of heart after vehemently opposing Mayor Michael Reina in the 2022 mayoral election. Last November, Saucikie sat squarely in the camp overseen by former Jackson GOP Committee Chairwoman Clara Glory.
Sauickie donated thousands of dollars to the political campaign of hardware store owner Marty Flemming who ran a heated campaign against Reina.
Sauickie now serves as as Assemblyman after he succeeded now-deceased former Assemblyman Ronald Dancer.
With the political deck stacked against him as he rallies for support in his re-election campaign, Sauickie on Wednesday pledged his loyalty and support to Reina. In recent weeks, Sauickie has been lobbying to save himself, including multiple meetings with Orthodox Jewish community leaders and for the support of the Jackson GOP club.
Today, club chairman Mordechai Burnstein confirmed Sauicke’s commitment, signaling his break from the Glory-Flemming opposition camp.
“It was a pleasure to have Old Bridge Mayor Owen Henry join us to discuss his campaign to be our next State Senator, along with Assemblyman Clifton and Assemblyman Sauckie. They committed to having a strong presence in Jackson and that they would fight for us in Trenton,” Burnstein said today. “Jacksons is a growing town which must receive the support that we need. All three expressed their commitment to work in cooperation with Mayor Reina and our club to best serve all of our residents and keep moving Jackson forward.”
