TOMS RIVER, NJ – Whether your slogan is ‘Mo Must Go’ or ‘Let’s Go Mo’, if you’re a registered voter and unaffiliated, yes, you can vote in the June 6 GOP primary for mayor in Toms River.
Councilman Daniel Rodrick and two others are challenging embattled incumbent Mayor Maurice “Mo” Hill in a showdown that could shape the long-term direction of Toms River.
Hill, who has championed hi-density development in Downtown Toms River and laid the framework for a possible future development at the Ciba-Giegy Superfund site is challenging Councilman Daniel Rodrick who has fiercely opposed overdevelopment in the town for six years, since first elected in 2018.
The good news is, even if you’re not a registered Republican, you can vote in the June 6 Republican Primary election. All unregistered voters will be registered as Republicans upon casting their vote. The good news is, you can fill out a simple form at the county clerk’s office after the election and switch yourself back to unaffiliated.
Unaffiliated voters could have an impact on the re-election bid of Mayor Hill. If you’re not yet registered to vote, you have until May 16 to register with the County Clerk’s Office. You can also register to vote via a simple online form.
The election in June could decide whether Toms River continues its direction of becoming one of New Jersey’s largest cities or strives to maintain its small-town feel for years to come.
