NEW YORK, NY – In an ongoing investigation into a mass shooting in Brooklyn, detectives with the NYPD have arrested and charged Kamondre Dekattu, a 22-year-old male.
The shooting was between rival gangs, according to reports when Dekattu, who was allegedly ordered to perform a hit on rivals shot at members of Folk Nation by rapper Sheff G. Sheff G, aka Michael Williams was also arrested and charged for orchestrating gang violence in the city.
Video of the event showed Dekattu as the gunman in a passing vehicle during the drive-by shooting.
The shooting took place on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at approximately 10:18 pm when the police responded to a distress call reporting multiple individuals shot near 271 Hawthorne Street, within the jurisdiction of the 71 Precinct.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a total of six individuals had been shot. One victim, identified as Theodore Senior, a 23-year-old male residing at 180 Erasmus Street, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County.
He was pronounced deceased at the hospital a short time later.
The other victims included a 26-year-old male shot in the right leg, a 29-year-old male shot in the left leg, a 29-year-old female shot in the right leg, a 27-year-old male shot in the groin, and a 28-year-old male grazed in the back. They were all taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County and Brookdale Hospital, respectively, for treatment and were reported to be in stable condition.
The charges against Dekattu include murder, five counts of attempted murder, ten counts of assault, 36 counts of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, six counts of reckless endangerment, and 18 counts of criminal possession of a firearm.
