BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — The aftermath of Monday’s storms in New Jersey continues to unfold as authorities confirm the occurrence of at least one tornado.
The National Weather Service has officially verified the touchdown of a tornado in Somerset County during Monday night’s turbulent weather. In addition, officials are currently assessing the precise path of another tornado that wreaked havoc in communities across Warren County and eastern Pennsylvania.
The tornado was confirmed in Bernardsville.
“We have confirmed two tornadoes from yesterday’s storms. Exact details regarding these tornadoes, e.g. , track, rating, etc., are still being determined by our team.” the NWS said.
As the sun peeked through the clouds on Tuesday afternoon, cleanup crews wasted no time in tackling the extensive damage caused by the recent storms.
One striking scene unfolded on Anderson Hill Road, where a massive tree had toppled, crashing into a home and leaving significant structural damage in its wake. Just up the street, a team of workers grappled with a tangled web of powerlines, diligently working to restore electricity to the area.
