BROOKLYN, NY – Jianqing Chen, a 43-year-old resident of Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the attempted murder of his ex-wife’s work colleague.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced the sentence on Friday, which also includes five years of post-release supervision.

Chen was convicted of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree aggravated harassment on July 7.

Evidence revealed that Chen had harassed his estranged wife, with whom he has two children, through calls and text messages before the attack.

On March 3, 2022, Chen ambushed the victim outside his Dyker Heights home, inflicting multiple stab wounds. The victim was discovered by his 16-year-old daughter and promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Chen was later arrested and connected to the crime through DNA evidence and surveillance footage.
