Bronx, NY – A Manhattan man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a 2016 drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy and the critical injury of an adult man, both of whom were innocent bystanders.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that Adrian Medina, 26, was sentenced on August 28 by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Ralph Fabrizio. Medina will also serve five years of post-release supervision. He pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter on June 7.

District Attorney Clark stated, “Medina admitted to driving a stolen car from which shots were fired, killing 17-year-old Dontae Gordon and wounding another man. This sentencing reinforces that anyone contributing to violence on our streets will be held accountable.”

According to the investigation, Medina was driving a stolen livery cab on August 17, 2016, around 9:15 p.m. near College Avenue and East 170th Street in Claremont Village. His passenger fired multiple shots, fatally hitting Dontae Gordon in the stomach and injuring a 21-year-old man. Gordon later died at Lincoln Hospital. Medina was arrested in 2019, while the shooter remains at large.
