MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Maplewood Police Department has reported a series of vehicle-related crimes occurring throughout the town, prompting a response from local law enforcement.
On April 12, 2024, officers were called to an Oakland Road residence following a report of stolen vehicle rims. The vehicle owner discovered the theft after parking the car in their driveway, with both rims and tires missing.
Just a few days later, on April 15, a motor vehicle theft occurred on Burr Road. The owner reported their 2019 Chrysler Pacifica was left unsecured overnight in their driveway and was missing the following morning. Fortunately, the vehicle was recovered later that day within Maplewood.
Additionally, between April 15 and April 16, the police received multiple reports concerning vehicle rummages on several streets including Hillcrest Road, Burr Road, Plymouth Avenue, Prospect Street, and Irvington Avenue. These incidents involved unidentified individuals searching through parked cars overnight.
The Maplewood Police Department is investigating these incidents and urges residents to secure their vehicles and report any suspicious activities immediately.
