Southern Maryland Man Claims $50,000 Pick 5 Top Prize in Recent Drawing

A man from Southern Maryland arrived at Lottery headquarters on Thursday with a Pick 5 ticket that had been in his possession for years. Despite previous near misses, he finally saw his lucky combination appear, resulting in a significant $50,000 win. The retired contractor expressed disbelief at finally achieving this win, having utilized his address for his Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5 numbers for an extended period.

Shortly after the April 11 drawing, the St. Mary’s County resident checked the winning numbers through the Lottery’s phone line the following morning. To his surprise, all five numbers on his ticket were announced during the evening Pick 5 drawing. Initially skeptical, he sought confirmation by calling back twice, then made a trip to his nearest Lottery retailer. Upon the scanner’s directive to claim his prize at the Lottery office, he was finally convinced of his win.

The fortunate winner and his wife intend to use a portion of their $50,000 prize to take their grandchildren on a trip, while the remainder will be shared with other family members. They expressed joy at the prospect of improving the lives of their loved ones with their unexpected windfall.

In addition to the elation felt by the lucky ticket holder, the Wawa convenience store located at 23141 Three Notch Road in California, St. Mary’s County, will benefit from the win as well. The store will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize winning Pick 5 ticket.
