Man Who Shot NYC Cop Gets 19 Years in Prison

Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced that a Bronx man, Raheen Joye, 43, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for shooting and wounding a New York City Police Officer during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in 2022, when Joye fired at officers, hitting one in the foot.

District Attorney Gonzalez praised the officers’ bravery in facing danger daily and highlighted the significance of holding Joye accountable for his actions.

Joye pleaded guilty to the charges of second-degree attempted murder on April 10, 2024, leading to the sentencing by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Jane Tully.
