Connecticut man gets 40 years in prison on two rape charges

Frederick, MD – In the Frederick County Circuit Court, Nicholas Wayne Summers received a 40-year sentence in the Department of Corrections, with all but 19 years suspended, for two counts of second-degree rape.

The sentence, based on a binding plea agreement, reflects close collaboration between the State’s Attorney’s Office and the victim’s family.

In May 2023, a deputy from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a minor’s sexual assault. The minor’s mother reported her child disclosed multiple past assaults in a social media post. Investigation revealed Summers committed several assaults over three years in Montgomery and Frederick counties.

State’s Attorney Charlie Smith commented on the case, highlighting the year-long collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office detectives and the State’s Attorney’s Office, which brought justice to the victim and her family.

Smith emphasized their commitment to holding predators accountable.

Upon his release, Summers will face five years of specialized sex offender supervision and will be subject to lifetime supervision and registration. His conditions include no contact with the victim, no unsupervised contact with minors, internet and GPS monitoring, and a prohibition on possessing firearms.
