Baltimore man scores $50K birthday win on scratch-off ticket

Baltimore man wins $50,000 on scratch-off after birthday lottery run

BALTIMORE, MD – A birthday trip to buy lottery tickets ended with a $50,000 surprise for a Baltimore man, thanks to a $30 Ace of Spades scratch-off purchased after dinner with his wife.

The man, a city resident and soon-to-be-retired cook, visited US Fuel at 6100 Moravia Park Drive earlier this month to play some of his favorite games. His wife opted for Racetrax, but he decided to stick with scratch-offs. After winning $50 on initial tickets, he reinvested the winnings — including on the Ace of Spades ticket that would lead to his five-figure payday.

He began scratching the bonus area of the ticket and revealed a 100X multiplier. As he continued, the prize amounts added up fast, ultimately totaling $500 — multiplied to $50,000 thanks to the bonus symbol. The ticket was scanned to confirm the win, which he later claimed at Maryland Lottery headquarters.

He plans to use the money for home improvements and possibly a new car.

The Ace of Spades game launched in September and still holds three $2 million top prizes. This Baltimore player is the first to claim one of three $50,000 second-tier prizes, leaving two still unclaimed. The ticket also features many remaining prizes ranging from $30 to $5,000.

The retailer, US Fuel, will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
