Baltimore winner gets Hawaiian getaway and $1M lottery shot

Baltimore man wins first Maryland Lottery trip to Hawaii in Jurassic Park promotion

BALTIMORE, MD – A retired electrician from Baltimore is packing his bags for paradise after winning the first trip in the Maryland Lottery’s Jurassic Park second-chance promotion — a six-day, five-night Hawaiian vacation with a shot at a $1 million prize.

James Dabney Jr., 71, entered the promotion by submitting a non-winning Jurassic Park scratch-off through My Lottery Rewards. His entry was randomly selected in the first of four promotional drawings that will each send a winner and a guest to Oahu, Hawaii.

This will be Dabney’s first visit to the Aloha State. Though he’s traveled across the U.S., including to Texas and Utah, he has never made it to Hawaii — until now. As part of the experience, he will receive round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, $1,000 in spending cash, a welcome reception, and a curated tour or excursion on the island.

While in Oahu, all trip winners will also participate in the $1,000,000 Jackpot Challenge, where they’ll get the chance to win up to $1 million.

Three more drawings are scheduled for November 13, December 9, and January 7, each awarding another trip for two to Hawaii. Players can still enter by submitting non-winning Jurassic Park scratch-offs into the My Lottery Rewards platform.

The $5 Jurassic Park scratch-off launched on September 19 and features six instant top prizes of $50,000. As of now, two top-prize winners have claimed their prizes — one from Washington, D.C., and one from Elkridge — with four top prizes still unclaimed.
