BALTIMORE, MD — A Baltimore resident plans to invest her $50,000 Powerball Double Play prize in her community and take a vacation. The winner, who matched four numbers and the Powerball on a quick-pick ticket in the April 3 Double Play drawing, will use the prize to support her nonprofit organization.
The winner, using the nickname “Simboli Ruffin,” bought her ticket at Oak Street Station Oceanic, located at 2040 North Howard Street in Baltimore. She purchased the ticket during a rare visit, spending $20 on a quick-pick ticket for both the regular and Double Play drawings.
“I rarely play the Lottery,” she said. “It was just one of those days when I felt lucky. To win $50,000 is simply overwhelming.”
Reflecting on her fortune, “Simboli” recalled a previous Lottery win, which she donated to churches and nonprofit organizations. She intends to donate this prize to her nonprofit, which provides shelter, meals, child care, and other resources to those in need.
“I view this as a blessing,” Simboli said. “It feels right to use these winnings to support and rebuild my community. After enjoying a well-deserved vacation, I’ll be reinvesting the money into my nonprofit to continue helping others.”
When asked about playing the Lottery again, Simboli replied, “Life is a gamble, and it’s good to take risks. The best part is being able to share my winnings and help build the Baltimore community. Yes, I’ll definitely be playing again!”
