Bayonne police connect March 28 shooting to robbery, arrests in separate kidnapping

Bayonne, NJ – A shooting in Bayonne late last month has been linked to an earlier robbery and a subsequent kidnapping incident, according to a police update released Wednesday. Investigators say the violence was targeted and part of an ongoing dispute between individuals involved.

The shooting occurred March 28 in the area of West 26th Street. Following what officials described as an extensive investigation, police determined the individual involved had been the victim of a prior robbery carried out by multiple suspects. During that incident, the victim discharged a firearm in the direction of those responsible as they fled, and the weapon was later recovered by responding officers.

In the days that followed, detectives identified escalating disputes among those involved, leading to a separate incident on March 31. While conducting surveillance for the suspected shooter, officers observed multiple individuals forcibly compel two juveniles into a vehicle, remove personal property, and transport them against their will.
