Belleville Police Department Teams Up with Shoprite to Combat Hunger

Belleville, NJ — Earlier today, officers from the Belleville Police Department took a break from their usual duties to participate in Shoprite’s Help Bag Hunger campaign. In an effort to raise awareness about food insecurity, the officers bagged groceries at the local Shoprite store. Shoppers were encouraged to donate money, the proceeds of which will benefit local food banks.

According to the department’s announcement, Shoprite of Belleville Partners In Caring is a “year-round, community-based, hunger-fighting initiative” that collaborates with over 50 food industry manufacturers. This initiative raises more than $3 million annually for local charitable organizations focused on food relief.

The Belleville Police Department expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be involved in this community endeavor. In their official statement, they noted, “It was a pleasure meeting everyone and it was an honor to be a part of this initiative. Thank you.”
