BROOKLYN, NY – Vitaliy Konoplyov, 49, of Coney Island, Brooklyn, was indicted today for charges including second-degree manslaughter and reckless endangerment. Konoplyov is alleged to have run multiple red lights while speeding, causing a car crash that resulted in two fatalities and five injuries.
The collision occurred on March 20, 2023, at approximately 12:48 pm. Konoplyov, driving a 2015 white Toyota Camry, collided with a 2016 black Honda HR-V being driven by Stancho Stanchev, 51, after running a red light. The accident caused Stanchev’s vehicle to spin out of control and strike pedestrian Leung Yuet, 65, and a 2021 silver Chevy Equinox driven by a 71-year-old man.
Konoplyov is currently being held on bail of $1 million bond or $250,000 cash. He is due to return to court on June 21, 2023.
