State police say a 57-year-old man is facing state and federal charges after a child exploitation investigation uncovered alleged child sexual abuse material.
JAY, N.Y. — A North Country man has been arrested on multiple child exploitation charges following a joint investigation involving the New York State Police Troop B Computer Crime Unit and several law enforcement partners.
Authorities announced that Albert D. Leon, 57, of Jay, was taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the promotion and possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to state police, Leon faces multiple state charges related to the promotion and possession of child sexual abuse material, as well as a federal charge.
Investigators did not immediately release additional details about the allegations or the specific federal offense.
Leon was remanded to the Essex County Jail.
State police said the investigation remains active and are urging anyone with information or anyone who believes they may have been a victim to contact investigators at 518-873-2750.
Authorities also indicated that additional information could emerge as the investigation continues.
