Code Blue declared in Cherry Hill as temperatures plunge into teens

Cherry Hill, NJ – The Camden County Office of Emergency Management has issued a Code Blue Alert beginning Saturday evening as dangerously cold temperatures move into the region.

The alert will remain in effect from 7 p.m. Saturday, December 13, through 7 p.m. Monday, December 15, with overnight lows expected to drop as low as 17 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Warming centers open across Cherry Hill

In response, Cherry Hill officials have designated several local warming centers for residents in need of shelter from the cold. These include the Cherry Hill Mall at 2000 Route 38 and the Cherry Hill Public Library at 110 Kings Highway North, both open during regular business hours. After the mall closes, residents may also use the Cherry Hill Police Department lobby at 820 Mercer Street for warmth and assistance.

Resources and assistance available

Police are urging anyone needing help or information to call the department’s non-emergency number at 856-488-7828. For individuals requiring emergency shelter after hours, residents should dial 2-1-1 to reach the Code Blue Emergency Hotline.

Officials also reminded residents to report power or gas outages directly to their utility providers:
• PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734 or nj.pseg.com
• South Jersey Gas at 1-800-582-7060 or southjerseygas.com

Officials stress safety during cold snap

Authorities are asking residents to check on elderly neighbors, avoid prolonged exposure to the cold, and bring pets indoors during the Code Blue period. The alert may be extended if freezing conditions persist beyond Monday evening.
