Colts Neck GOP candidate John Tobia reportedly eyeing Jackson Township job amid council bid

COLTS NECK, N.J. — Colts Neck Republican Township Committee candidate John Tobia is reportedly seeking employment beyond Monmouth County, with sources in Ocean County claiming he recently applied for the position of business administrator in Jackson Township.

Despite the alleged job search, Tobia has received strong local backing for his campaign in Colts Neck, winning the endorsement of the Colts Neck Republican Committee in a near-unanimous vote.

Tobia, who works for the Monmouth County Department of Public Works and is the current Chairman of the Colts Neck Planning Board, has positioned himself as a staunch opponent of overdevelopment.

He currently earns $190,000 per year at that job. The move to businesses administrator in Jackson would have placed him out of the county, allowing the Monmouth County commissioners to backfill his position with another GOP insider.

Tobia is slated to appear on the ballot in the June 10 Republican primary.

Monmouth County GOP Chairman Shawn Golden reportedly brokered the deal to move Tobia to Jackson Township. It is unlikely that Tobia will have enough votes to get the job in Jackson.

Key Points:

  • Colts Neck candidate John Tobia reportedly applied for a top job in Jackson Township, Ocean County.
  • Political sources say the appointment lacked Jackson Council support and was not approved.
  • Tobia remains endorsed by the Colts Neck GOP and is running on an anti-overdevelopment platform.
