Authorities say attempted carjacking turned violent, laptop stolen in March incident

Columbia, MD – Police in Howard County are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect involved in a robbery and attempted carjacking that left a woman injured in a Columbia parking garage last month.

The incident occurred on March 17 in the 10400 block of Little Patuxent Parkway. According to investigators, an adult female victim was approached by a man who demanded her car keys before the situation escalated into violence.

Police said the suspect assaulted the victim and stole her laptop before fleeing the scene. The victim was treated for her injuries.

Police release suspect description, seek public assistance

In a statement, the Howard County Police Department said, “Howard County police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect from a March 17 robbery/attempted carjacking in a parking garage in the 10400 block of Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia.” Authorities added, “An adult female victim reported that she was approached by the suspect who demanded her keys. The suspect then assaulted the victim and stole her laptop before fleeing.”

Police described the suspect as “a Hispanic male, approximately 30-40 years old, 5-foot-6 with facial hair and black hair, with a distinctive walk as seen in the video.”

Investigation ongoing as police review evidence

Detectives are continuing to review surveillance footage and are urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident to come forward.

Authorities have not announced any arrests as the investigation remains active.
